Engineer/Scientist III

Function:

Applies advanced engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, test or evaluate digital equipment, hardware, RF system concepts, or software development tasking. Applies software, electrical and hardware engineering experience in, but not limited to, circuit board layout and design, real-time operating systems, software design and implementation, and system design architecture to perform engineering design and feasibility evaluation, component and system design engineering, or installation testing and evaluation. This experience is preferred to include working with ID, ECMS, ATC equipment, systems and subsystems, and other advanced technologies development. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analysis, reports, change proposals, requirements, architecture modeling, systems engineering and other engineering documentation. Uses IEEE ISO/IEC/IEEE 24748-4:2016 , Systems engineering - Application and management of the systems engineering process; IEEE ISO/IEC 12207:2008 - IEEE   Systems and software engineering - Software life cycle processes and the SEI CMMI for Development, Version 2.0  model for guidance in providing systems and software engineering products and services.

Experience in System Architecture, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), DoDAF / SysML Modelling, and requirements development, analysis, refinement, allocation, and validation should be clearly represented. Experience with small team (less than 5) project management / leadership and Project Life Cycle (Conception through maintenance / disposal) planning and execution is preferred. Development on embedded Software / Hardware systems is highly desirable.

Minimum qualifications are:

Education:

  • BS or BA degree in engineering, computer science or information systems from an accredited (ABET) school.  

Experience:

  • A total of six years performing the foregoing functions.
  • At least four years of the foregoing total experience shall have consisted of specific experience in ID, ECMS, ATC equipment, systems and subsystems, and advanced identification waveforms. Familiarity with Xilinx FPGA, VHDL, C/C++ and/or, VME architecture are required.
  • At least two years of the foregoing total experience shall have been as a team leader performing the foregoing engineering functions.
  • The four years of specialized experience shall have been obtained within the last seven years.
