Processor Design Engineer

Coherent Technical Services, Inc is seeking a Design Engineer. This candidate will collaborate with other engineers to determine optimal hardware architecture, design and implement high performance digital hardware, develop and adapt hardware to interface and control system optical components, and coordinate with third-party digital design / production house.

Education/Certifications:

  • B.S. in electrical or computer engineering from an accredited school.

Experience:

  • 5 - 10 years complex multilayer PCB development with experience in multiple of the following areas:
  • Demonstrated experience with systematic approach to PCB design with emphasis on documentation and reviews, and design verification and validation.
  • Gigabit communications (Ethernet, SATA, PCIe)
  • Digital and Analog simulation (Spice, Modelsim, etc)
  • One or more high-end schematic and layout CAD systems (Altium preferred; Cadence Allegro and/or OrCAD acceptable.)
  • Experimented in PCB signal integrity
  • High-speed data acquisition (100 Msps +)
  • Familiarity with embedded software systems utilizing SoC’s (Systems-on-Chip) a plus.
  • Familiarity with advanced lab instruments for debugging boards (high-speed scopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, etc)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong commitment to quality and attention to detail

Desired Experience:

  • PCB debug experience
  • Hybrid processor/Chip (DSP core + ARM core) circuit design
  • Xilinx FPGA design with DDR3 memory interfacing
