Senior Mechanical Engineer

Coherent Technical Services, Inc is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer.  

Develops, maintains and produces technical designs, documentation and system/subsystem specifications; interfaces with customers at all levels: design reviews, technical working groups, and final design and test activities; conducts site visits and experimental investigations, analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations; solves average electrical engineering problems with little technical guidance; interprets military drawing standards/specifications, as well as government process for ordering parts; documents work efforts, to include Test Procedures, Engineering Change Proposals, specifications/standards, etc.

Will manage a team of skilled Mechanical Engineers, leading the team to successfully execute a wide range of projects, from very small design projects, to much larger design and build efforts.  

Requires good communication skills both verbally and written. Required to communicate with engineers, technicians, management, and customers regarding technical solutions; prepare technical and weekly reports and papers concerning results, findings of studies, presents and weekly activities; interact in a team environment with a diverse technical work force.

Performs professional work in research, prototype development, design, testing, analysis, production, construction, maintenance, operation, planning, estimating, or standardization of facilities, systems, structures, processes, equipment, devices, or materials, requiring knowledge of the art and science of engineering.  Machine shop prototyping and small scale production experience with Computer Aided Machining (CAM), CNC milling techniques, sheet metal fabrication design. Formulates conceptual and preliminary designs, performs tests, takes measurements, and performs system analyses of simulations.  

Perform design analysis and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with respect to structural, thermal, and other mechanical failure modes.  

Review reports on design analysis and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with respect to structural, thermal, and other mechanical failure modes.

Applies reverse engineering and reengineering disciplines to develop innovative designs and apply production planning and manufacturing documents.  Prepares conceptual designs, proposed mechanical system layouts, schematics, and diagrams; develops design solutions, and prepares relevant procurement and design documentation. Utilizes Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and associated Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software approved by TYAD (SolidWorks, Pro Engineer and AutoCAD).

Familiar with AS9100D quality standards, and the Aerospace and Defense Industry.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical) or related field from an accredited education institution.  

Experience:  

  • 10+ years of specialized experience as related to the duties above.

Candidate selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
