Senior Mechanical / Electrical Systems Engineer

Coherent Technical Services, Inc. (CTSi) is seeking a Senior Mechanical / Electrical Systems Engineer with 10–15 years of experience supporting complex DoD and aerospace programs. This position requires a highly self-motivated engineer with strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and a demonstrated ability to drive engineering efforts from concept through production and delivery.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in both mechanical and electrical design, work directly with manufacturing teams, and support proposal development including labor and material cost estimation. Aircraft systems experience is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Technical Leadership

  • Lead mechanical and electrical system designs from concept through production and integration.
  • Review, check, and approve mechanical and electrical drawings and technical data packages (TDPs).
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturability, quality, and compliance requirements (MIL-STD, AS9100).
  • Perform and/or review engineering analyses including structural, thermal, and tolerance analysis.
  • Support customer interactions including design reviews and technical interchange meetings.

Manufacturing & Integration Support

  • Work directly with mechanical fabrication, machining, sheet metal, welding, additive manufacturing, composites, and electrical fabrication teams.
  • Support prototype builds, First Article Inspection (FAI/AS9102), and production transition.
  • Resolve shop-floor issues and drive engineering change implementation.

Proposal & Cost Estimating

  • Support proposal development including labor hour and material cost estimation.
  • Develop and review Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
  • Support RFQ/RFP technical evaluations and requirements traceability.

Program Execution & Team Leadership

  • Independently manage multiple priorities and drive tasks to completion.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10–15 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting aerospace and/or DoD programs.
  • Strong background working directly with manufacturing organizations.
  • Experience reviewing and approving engineering drawings.
  • Proposal development and cost estimating experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Technical Skills:

  • SolidWorks required; CREO / Inventor and AutoCAD a plus.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and design analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with NAVAIR and NAWCAD processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and MIL-STD engineering standards

Education / Clearance:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Security Clearance:

  • Must be eligible to obtain at a minimum U.S. Secret Clearance. Active clearance preferred.
